Help for adults
Being an adult means being self-determined. That's why we help adults with special needs to lead as free and self-determined a life as possible.
The staff at Sommerberg, our subsidiary AWO Der Sommerberg GmbH, will work with you to find the right support and assistance. At your home, in our day (support) programmes or in our assisted living facilities.
Inclusion support
In North Rhine-Westphalia, you as parents can decide whether to choose a mainstream school or a special school for your child with a need for special educational support. Children and young people with such support needs can receive individualised help in the form of school or inclusion support.
Sommerberg offers well-trained specialists for inclusion support who are orientated towards the individual support and assistance needs of the respective child/young person.

Everyone is equal before the law - the Federal Participation Act
Numerous day-care centres in our district have many years of experience in the joint care of children with and without disabilities. Our task is to create a development environment that fulfils the individual entitlement to participation and support of every child.
The Federal Participation Act (BTHG) forms the legal basis for our work. Its aim is to improve the living conditions of people with disabilities in terms of greater participation and self-determination.
